HELLO ALL,
I HAVE NOT POSTED IN A WHILE. BUT I HAVE BEEN DETECTING RIGHT THRU THE WINTER WITH HAMMER, CHISEL AND ALL.I HAVE BEEN GETTING LOTS OF BUTTONS, NICE RELICS, AND SOME 1900`S SILVER, BUT TODAY I FOUND A LITTLE SOMETHING WORTH POSTING . VPONE AND I GOT OUT TO THE COLONIAL FARM TODAY. HE STARTED OFF IN A SMALL PASTURE AND I WENT RIGHT TO A HOT COLONIAL SPOT. I WAS THIER ONLY 5 MINUTES WHEN I HEARD SOMEONE YELLING, ( OH SH&T ). I TURNED AND LOOKED , AND THERE COMES VPONE RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE. A HUGE BLACK BULL CAME CHARGING AFTER HIM, AND ALL I COULD DO IS LAUGH. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT..........!!!!!
VPONE FINALLY CAME OVER TO WHERE I WAS HUNTING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT 4 BUTTONS, 2 MUSKETBALLS AND THIS REAL NICE 1775 GEORGIVS / BRITANNIA COUNTERFEIT HALFPENNY.
THANKS VP FOR THE BIG LAUGH, AND THANKS FOR LOOKING.
.........PACO........

Counterfeit or not, thats one nice coin!! Way to go Paco. :headbang:

Rob, great copper, man! You haven't found one since October, so you definitely deserved it.

It looks like the Colonial field is still producing!

Kyle

Rob, it looks like the site where I got my 1793 halfpenny is still yielding the coppas. Just like zoyboy said, you definitely deserved this one, man!

Keep the passion high, Rob!

Kirk

Nice coin Rob
Did you know they think King George III was crazy?
Well you aren't for returning to that spot.
Congrats
Chris

Awesome, Rob, we knew that place had more. Did you find it in the same productive area where all the other coppas were found? Keep hitting it hard, man!

Kirk

P.S. What kind of signal and how deep?

Great finds PACO. Glad to see you out there scoring the oldings. I would have loved to see Kevin getting chased. As big as he is though, I think he could have taken that bull by the horns. :D
Congrats,
MM

HEY KIRK, YES IT WAS CLOSE TO THE SAME LOCATION, ALITTLE MORE OVER THE SIDE OF THE BENCH. IT WAS ABOUT SEVEN INCHES DEEP. IT GAVE ME A 30 VDI READING, BUT A GOOD TONE. IT MUST HAVE BEEN ON ITS SIDE. BECAUSE OUT OF THE HOLE IT GAVE AN 80 VDI. I KNEW IT WAS COLONIAL THEN....PACO

Rob,

If it was on edge, it would read lower. I bet you were excited after that one! If you think of it, we all never really focused in that area. There were never really many signals over the edge, but it looks like it has paid off.

Keep sweeping!

Kirk

Pac,

Did the farmer buy a bull recently? I don't recollect a bull being on the farm. :tongue3: :D How did you hear vpone yelling? That pasture is about 100 yards away from that field. :D

Kirk

hey congrats again Paco !!!!!!

that was a really great find and definately a really fun day, boy how many decent signals did we dig today ????? between us we got 10 buttons in a spot that was hit hard !
i was really happy to see you get the coin, it definately made my day too !

i REALLY thought i had one too, boy it was just the right size and thickness but it definately had teh shank on it - oh well -

getting chased by the bull was NOT funny at the time but boy i bet it looked funny :) i was digging a signal, looked up and there he was right on top of me ! whew - he could have gotten me if he really wanted to (thank god he didn't !)

great day buddy !

kevin

pac - i was looking at the pictures above and boy that coin we found on the internet matched up PERFECTLY with the coin you found - it's nice we were able to identify it so easily

when i overlayed it in photoshop, and then faded it out to show you how the details matched up - you screamed in my ear "wow that's it !!!"

too funny

I thought the cordial farmer was joking that one day about having a bull. How did it get back into the electric fence? Did vpone pick it up and carry it back in? :icon_sunny:

Nice find Paco! I anxiously await posts from you guys regarding colonial coins. Now that the warmer weather is closing in I'm sure you'll be finding them in record amounts.

The more I compare and contrast those photos of your coin and the one you ID'ed it as, the more differences I think I am seeing though. I could be wrong but look at the forehead angle and shape between the two coins. Do they look different to you? How about the ends of the ribbon in the hair?
