This point I found in Jefferson County Missouri in 1979. I was living there working as a machinist.

I hunted often with my buddy Tom who lived outside of High Ridge.

Made of Sonora Flint it is 2 3/4 inches in length, well made with slight, minor implement damage to the upper blade edge.

Sonora Flint outcrops in the counties of Hart and Hardin Counties in Kentucky. Found often in the Nolin River drainage and surrounding waterways. I obtained a collection of relics from a friend of mine who resides in Big Clifty Kentucky. His son-in-law introduced us and built our cabin there. This collection has a large number of relics made of Sonora Flint which I will be posting.

The estimated distance of where this relic was found to the outcrop location is approximately 306.2 miles.

Always like to see points from other areas, lookin forward to it and that’s a nice lookin one. ..Good info post.

That is very unique piece. The base and hafting area remind me of a dagger.

Nice! Sure is some nice material. :icon_thumright:

Very nice, looks more green than blue in the pic. Awesome piece, thank you!!

Dognose's pics come out a little green. Look at his avatar. We find Sonora only very rarely here in Cent. IL. It is definitely premium material. Gary

The photo is a pretty good rendition of the actual relic. Color variations may occur due to flash and or un-natural light. These issues I try to mitigate.

Concerning the avatar - that relic is gray green, the natural color of Attica chart, AKA Indian Green. The color in the avatar is pretty close

I always appreciate it when I learn new information about the artifacts and lithic materials from so many regional experts (people who handle and carefully put in the study time).
Thanks for posting and explaining that cool point.
