I'm learning SLOWLY but I need some help with this one. Age would be the most helpful detail. I want to sell it and I need a starting point. I have tried to show as many pictures as possible of this piece. It is clear, but seems to have a smokiness towards the bottom, almost like it was heated at some point (hence, maybe a water vessel). It has NUMEROUS bubbles of different sizes through out. In a few cases, it is almost like there is a bit of wood or stone or other foreign matter mixed in. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thx.

It is a decanter. Usually for wine or liquor. Described as leaning, slanted or tilted. Found ones close on the bay..

Nice piece, but I don't think I would be hauling water around in it... that's all I know.

It looks like a mid century design. It's obviously hand blown with a rough pontil. The bubbles may possibly be intentional but the inclusions appear unintentional and would suggest it isn't from a real high quality glass maker. It looks like bits of charcoal from the furnace. All this being said it is still a cool looking piece of glass. I agree with don't blink, it's a wine decanter.

Thanks everyone. I think I will try to list it tonight. Have a super seller promo. Honestly, that is about the only time I can afford to list more than 50 items in a month. Plus, working full time and having a family makes shipping a challenge.

Enjoy the rest of ur weekend and happy hunting!!

I must be spoiled. I haven't paid for a listing in a long time, even my set price BIN listings have been free lately.

Having just gotten an 84 year old uncle out of the hospital, I had to laugh when I saw this.... It could be a water decanter, but maybe this could be a man's "Civil War Hospital Appliance"....

50 plus listings a month wow!, How in the heck do you do it?... Boy I'm lucky if I can swing 6 a month and lately I've been slacking with none items to sell, I'm just letting things pile up and thinking it may be better to find a full time ebayer to deal with it all. I tip my hat to you. The water jug is very funky.

I said the same thing to my hubby before I posted this listing. The shape is so unique. Flattened with two bottoms almost. The spout also has a unique patterning. Makers signature or perhaps what they had available in the day to create the rippling?

Like most items I post on here it is really hard to tell unless you are holding it in ur hands. I might have to stop by a local antique dealer to get their impression. Say something like "hey I found this unique jug and I want to know more about it". Now to find one in the area that I cab trust. ;)
