Best I can tell it is some sort of commemorative medallion for the Chamonix Mt. Blanc tunnel inauguration.

The back is a little toasty but reads:

Inauguration

Thanks. When I flipped the plug I got excited because I saw the shiny side first and thought it might be a large coin. lol
