sound of metal detector

We were in arizona a few weeks ago and was doing some prospecting when detector started making a sound of a grunting hog and are was 10yrds by 20 yrds then it quit and started sounding normal has someone heard this before or know what might have caused this irrattic sound. never heard it before. we had two detectors sounding the same. Thanks

White they said it wasn't good for regular gold finding mainly coins
 

I have whites M6' haven't prospected with it yet, so I am guessing, over load on heavily mineralized soil maybe?

I agree "overload" would be my guess...?
 

Sounds like "overload" to me as well. Yoy may have been swing over some slightly buried metal roofing or something similar. To check, you could put a fair sized piece of metal on the ground and put the coil nearly touching and see if the same sound repeats.

I got a v3i whites & If u run into sonething big enough with sensitivity high it'll absolutly make that noise mine will actually say overload none the less settings might be a bit high or mayb wires underground ?
 

Could you record this and post it. I may want to make it my ring tone!
