going stir crazy so I thought I would post a find from last summer. Got this up around Salem Ma. Seeing there is only about 30 willow tree shillings known to exist I didn't bother looking into this one.

I think it is a sharp un-worn looking coin, except for the tree which looks pretty beat up. ?

I wouldn't think condition would necessarily rule it out. The lack of detail on the tree could be a weak strike. I would imagine a coin of this rarity would've been copied though. How deep was it? Can you remember what else you found at the site?

Me too, I find plenty of 17th century brass farthings which were the models for these types of issue. Even my best one has some level of green discolouring which you would expect for a coin which has been buried for over 200 years. To me the lettering is trying to be naive but missing the mark. I think it to be a copy.
