Today I found my first silver from this site..it's the same site that I found two 17th century spectacle buckles and it's a 1 reale cob! I was thinking I would never pull any silver from this site and was about to call it quits when I got a faint high tone amidst all the grunting out popped the cob. Now I have motivation to clear the iron and see what other goodies I can find. The site is 500 hundred acres but most of the old stuff is concentrated in a half acre near a spring. Hopefully someone will be able to identify it using my crappy pictures. I'm guessing it's a 1 reale since it looks like a 1 and not an 8, 4, or 2.

Thanks Sniffy

If it's there, the T2, as you'll find out, really picks up on the tiniest of non ferrous metals amidst the most iron infested places. If you get the 5" coil, you'll be unstoppable :headbang: :headbang:

I actually bought the 5" because you had mentioned it in one of your posts. I am so amazed by it....I don't see any real depth loss and when I use it at old sites, it's like I've never been there!!

Sweet find!!! :headbang: Congrats!

That is my dream find!!

It was up there for me too.....to find any hammered silver! Now if I just find a Virginia Halfpenny and any capped bust my list will be complete.

Super find Joey! I love hunting heavy iron sites like that as they usually produce quite well if you have the patience to work them slow. I'm sure you're gonna pull some more real(e) nice finds from that spot. Good luck!!

It was what found my Washington Inaugural button...We hunted this cellar for over a year with many detectorists..I put the 5"coil on it and found the button out there

The 5"coil is the secret weapon...

Thanks Bill. After each hunt there I say I'm going to retire it for a while because there's so much iron but I keep going back and it pays off. I just go real slow and hit it from every direction and the signals keep coming. I know a lot are still getting masked but that'll end once I start removing the iron. Maybe you can make a trip up and learn me something.

Joey! Awesome finds man!

Thanks Mike. I wish there was a way to identify it. It has great detail of what's left of it but I don't think I'll ever know where it was minted or how old it is.
