morning folks, my name is lee and ive been metal detecting in your fine country for 6 years now.
i am a regular poster over on American detectorist and was advised by the rebel to post a picture of my Spanish cob i found in the hopes that someone could identify it or at least give me a date range.
this is the 4th Spanish silver i have found on this small field, the others where 178- , 1754, 1730 but im thinking this one is older.
as you can see there is not much to go on and the other side is wiped clean, any ideas chaps ?. IMG_1337.webp

Seriously, you should post it in our Cobs forum for the quickest ID. Cool find!

Looks like a half real cob.

The date and mintmark would be on the other side, it's possible to get a more accurate range with the mint mark. Without any other info it is very hard to date, could be as early as the early 1600's, or as late as the 1760's. Good luck!

Welcome to Treasure Net !!
The style of the cross indicates Mexico City as the mint city.
Don....

So that makes it made between 1536 and 1733.
