🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Sparse 1700s site turns up a mystery item

Went back to a spot from several years ago where the only notable find was a British copper, likely a KG1? Managed to find a musket ball, spoon bowl, and this mystery item that is roughly in half. Hoping one of you recognize it!

Could it be half of a sash buckle, with the attachment points missing?

These look more modern...but you get the idea
