Detector(s) used
Minelab Equinox 600 XP Deus
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Took my new Equinox 600 to hunt the outskirts of an area of the gold coin field where I have found some colonial stuff. Would have found this stuff with most any detector but I can say I like the Nox a lot so far. Got a few buttons, toasted copper and other decorative colonial items but the best signal and find by far was only my second ever complete spectacle buckle. This would most likely date to the late 17th to very early 18th century. Its nearly identical to my other one too. Best relic Ill probably find for quite some time imo

Looks like an excellent hunt.
Glad you are bonding with the Equinox.
Congratulations on your finds

Still prefer the lighter Deus and still learning the Equinox but it seems to false on some iron more. Probably why the iron bias setting was built into. Gotta use it imo

Great spectacle buckle T! And the condition is fantastic. That type is on my list. Congrats

Hey Toast... great finds.

Well done.

Congrats on an outstanding buckle, and other relics.

Spectacle buckle is probably 1650 or older. Found a similar one in Ross Whitehead's buckle book. It's on page 67, buckle number 430:

I noticed that too but I have a feeling they were produced a little later or at the very least dropped much later. Earliest settlement of this area is no earlier than 1650. Most of the land patents only go back to the 1670s or so.

Killer relics! :occasion14:

Beautiful... Congrats

Absolutely fantastic. If Minelab will come out with a 8" or 9" coil for the Equinox I'll definitely buy the 800.

May have been lost later but they were not made into the 18th C. So at least 17th C constructed.

Congrats on the nice buckle. That one made a long journey to find you.

Best of luck to you sir.

I wonder just how common it was to use old buckles. I would imagine they were used until lost, broken or maybe thrown away because out of style

Beautiful buckle and relics

Your on fire, nice finds
