I also got a button like that about quarter size and there were union army and spanish american war camp artifacts. Mine had heavy corrosion on the backside and unreadable maker mark. Possibly your button is older too. Send a photo of back if possible. Best,

Yeap, one quick way to spot a blazer button as opposed to a military one is the quality of the pressed brass/copper cover (front). Military have crisper/finer details, civvy blazer buttons have a smoother look. Basically a poorer quality.
