What is the size of that shell.What does the bottom of it look like???????

Spencers were used during the civil war. I have piles of the casings and bullets that have come from some union sites.
 

It has an FVV & Co. headstamp, I'll put a coin for scale.

Fortbball, thanks for the link. I was told by others that this cartridge was post war, and the link has it listed as CW, so I have no clue what period it is ???

I've never found one with that stamp on the casing. Also, the bullet itself looks a little different than the ones that I have found. Might need to check on that one...I'm not sure what it is....
