Spotted this guy in the yard! (Warning-scary to some!)

He's a big one.They are called banana spiders. The second photo shows the smaller male with the much larger female. Though they are very scary looking,the bite is not that bad as far as spiders go. This was taken in my Aunts' yard in Lake city,Fl..

Ditto, vermont...I hate spiders....That thing would have gotten my boot.

Nice shots. Gotta love watching those banana spiders eat prey tangled in their web (I would catch bugs & throw into the web just to watch the stalk) . The only thing I hate is when you're riding ATV in the woods and run into a web.

Good God!!! I could care less if they bite or not - I'm a guy and secure in my "manliness," but there ain't no way I'd wanna be near one of those!!!!
