Spring GOLD digging at a dead man's hole and Sparrowhawk Tavern 1852-1900
Hi all, The last week i have digging a tavern site from the gold rush and near the site is an old mine shaft that a opium-smoking drunk chinaman fell down in the 1850's.Checking local records from the 1863 mine survey from the Dept of mines and the Victoria Public records and the local grave yard trust i located the shaft.

Some time ago a local told me of the site and theres a tavern not a few yards away.Well with the undergrowth and spring grass growing quickly i cannot go into the best gold country. So i will work these sites closer to home till the summer heat kills of the under growth.
The site is very junkie but the top soil is only about a foot deep then you hit the natural ground. This ground is has heavy minerialisation or Hot Rocks.Nightmare for both P1 and vlf m.ds
yes i used a gpx with a 12 inch Eliptecal nuggetfinder coil.Spent the first day cleaning out as much trash as i could.Yes dug all targets. Then i removed all other non metal objects like shards and glass.
By the third trip to the site i finally a clear spot of about 40 square feet and using a small coil on a gpx with almost running on silent i found a 14.1 gram delight
.Other finds include a
1900 Colony of Victoria Armed forces button (Variant)
Button, pin, rosett
[stud backed]
token 1858
buckle-clip 1856
