Hi friends, I got this for .25 cents this weekend. They seem to be collectible. Does anyone know about them? I don't know if mine is, as there are a lot of styles made. I thank you in advance.

Don't know anything about these but I'd say you got one hell of a deal....

It could be a real lighter but the were heavily faked so you need to check the serial number closely. If it's somewhat uneven, it should be a real lighter. The serials were hand stamped so perfect alignment means machine done and fake.

The fill cap looks correct but check inside for the painted dot. Most fakes never do it so it's one more thing to check.

As for the finish, it's a 20 micron thick layer of gold.

Looking at the letters and symbols again, I'll say it's real. The 0 before the 7 looks a bit high and the A is kinda sinking. The wing logo stamp is very clear and the wear is consistent for a lighter with 40 plus years of use.

Nice find. Now you need to get it rebuilt and use it

Great buy. I've sold every lighter in a matter of days.

Better take it to a jeweler and get it checked out. A friend of mine has one that is solid 14K gold.

It shows 20 microns (µ) on it, so not solid gold.

I found an old sterling Dunhill made in 1924 last summer I think it was. It's now sold and went to China. Good score on the Dupont.
