There's alot of debate about how old this church really is, some say it's the oldest in the Bahamas 🇧🇸? Others say the oldest is in Nassau. There really isn't much written about it and it is confusing. For sure there was a restoration in 1888, and that is exactly the date of the florantine pattern, pressed church glass i had made into pendants. Some sort of building seems to have occurred in 1799 also ?? But people say it was once Spanish in the 1600s, and that's when it was originally built. It certainly looks Spanish from a distance, and was an awsome hunt and exploration. I found a "Tudor rose" church door rosette with the eqx, and it may be older than the 1888 glass ??
I made a nice plaque with a large example of the pressed church glass, and the church door rosette for the museum over there, and will bring it back with the church glass pendants for my friends wives !!
What do you guys think....I think this church looks as Spanish as it gets ?? It might have been used by English later, but the shape and design looks more Spanish (the first to land in the Bahamas) than any other church I've seen in the islands ?? It could be the oldest church in the Bahamas??
