On the east side of the city, along Tampa Bay, N of downtown, there is one park after another & I'm pretty sure they've been there for decades. I detected one of those just in a grassy area for about an hour, got a handful of shallow clad. HH, George (MN)

be carefull at the parks, Pinellas County DOES NOT allow metal detecting at any of its parks.you can only hunt on the beaches.I got stoped about a year ago an the the county worker was not vey nice about it an would call the law if need be.Only answer as to why no hunting I got was its a county law, so you might want to check first. If you go to Ft.Desoto to the beach to hunt you will have to stop at the office to get a permit.
