Tickled pink right now! Got a tip on a popular swim beach where the water is extremely low right now. So I figured I'd try my luck out today, since this was the warmest day we'll probably have for a while. I hear this place gets hammered by other detectorists all summer, so I worked the water line, and further away where there's more fishing than swimming. (as you get outside the swimming area this place is a garbage pit!) My best find was this old, tarnished, silver ring. Now examine closely! This is a worn, standing liberty quarter coin ring! Almost all the detail is gone. You can only see a few fragments of the letters on the inside, such as "ED" in united. The giveaway is that I was able to locate the "B" in liberty, and the space between that and the fragments of the next letter is spaced out. This is where Miss Liberty's head would have been, as it separates the "B" from the "E" in liberty. This ring was worn for a LONG time before it was lost. Always be sure to examine your finds closely. I believe many people would not have known this was a coin ring. Can you tell from the pictures? :)

Well isn't that a cool, cool ring. Great find.

Yea, that's very cool! And, as usual, the date is worn off.:laughing7:

Amazing. How that was worked it is something else.

Thats a great find. At least you were able to identify it.

Congrats on pulling the ring made from a coin. :occasion14: I dug one of those last October, I have no idea as to what type of quarter was used.

Awesome find JD! I found a 1948 Ben Franklin coin ring last summer and can't pry it off of my wife's finger now... Great ID on the coin used too. Sub 8-)

Loco, I am leaning toward an early Washington quarter for your ring. I base that on the "N" in "United" that is visible. It looks more like a sideways "Z", just like the Washington quarters. Also note how close the "N" and "I" are to each other, may be a clue. Maybe take a loop and a really nice Washington silver quarter to make the comparison. Sub

Excellent find and post.
I see it isn't as uncommon as I thought.
Thanks guys, for posting your coin rings.

Man nice find. I just learned about these today. My friend was showing me how to make one.

That sure beats a plain silver ring find any day! :occasion14:

Congrats,
Dave

Very nice find congrats. We made a few of those when I was in the Navy aboard ship in the 60s.

I myself have dug one. Very cool ring, think mine is hammered out of a silver quarter. Congrats
