Tickled pink right now! Got a tip on a popular swim beach where the water is extremely low right now. So I figured I'd try my luck out today, since this was the warmest day we'll probably have for a while. I hear this place gets hammered by other detectorists all summer, so I worked the water line, and further away where there's more fishing than swimming. (as you get outside the swimming area this place is a garbage pit!) My best find was this old, tarnished, silver ring. Now examine closely! This is a worn, standing liberty quarter coin ring! Almost all the detail is gone. You can only see a few fragments of the letters on the inside, such as "ED" in united. The giveaway is that I was able to locate the "B" in liberty, and the space between that and the fragments of the next letter is spaced out. This is where Miss Liberty's head would have been, as it separates the "B" from the "E" in liberty. This ring was worn for a LONG time before it was lost. Always be sure to examine your finds closely. I believe many people would not have known this was a coin ring. Can you tell from the pictures?
