Star thinga majig thingy

I dug this star plate thing last year while I was digging a late 19th century dump. I didn't think anything of this object until I rediscovered it this morning. Any help of what this object is would be appreciated. Thanks Justin

I found this on my work bench and I believe theres a bit of bondo on it. There is also a small amount of gilt on it also.

Bondo? What's the flip side look like?

Lol yeah sadly it got bondo on it I'm a cabinet maker and I use it to fill knot holes and imperfections in the wood before i lacquer it. I had some one tell me that its part of a buckle like this one.
