You'd have to weigh it extremely accurately to determine if it's a true planchet solid error (impossible the way coins are minted now) or just the outer laminates smeared to appear like solid metal. The blanks are punched out of laminated sheets and solid sheets just don't exist in the process. Used to be mills would have sheets for other coins/countries with solid coinage and the errors could occur. Don't think that's possible with recent coinage.
