I finally saved up enough cash to afford a box of halves and have been going through them like crazy this week.

Box 1 - 2 40% ('65 and '67) and 2 Ken 90% as well as a very strange and confusing coin - a 20 Centavos with a half dollar reverse! I almost crapped myself with confusion over this one. It's thinner than a half dollar with a smaller diameter, very light and has the slightest hint of a seam on the edge. Either the mint has some 'splainin to do or someone has WAY too much time on their hands. Anyone want to trade?
Box 2 - 2 40% ('67 and '69) and one Ken 90%
Box 3 - I started searching for NIFC's in this box and pulled 1X '03, 2X '04's, 1X '05 and 1X '06. No silver.
Box 4 - 1 40% and an 04 NIFC

I went to the supply bank today to pick up another box today but they were out. A teller friend of mine had been wondering why I didn't search dimes or quarters so I decided to pick up 2 boxes of dimes. I had only searched a few rolls in the past (about $60) so I figured what the heck. I'm glad I did as box #1 produced 4 silvers! a beautiful '46, a '54, a '59 and a '64! I'm stoked. Sometimes things don't happen the way we planned for a reason.

Good luck and have fun,
George

You got 1/2 of a magicians coin. The other 1/2 would have been hollowed out and the peice you have inserted inside.

Here is one of my more cool magician coins.

What's CWI?
Are your boxes double stacked or single layer.
Double Stacked.
Brinks, good. The yellow and brown boxes in our area have been producing very large numbers of 90% the past few weeks, I hope you come across them before they are all gone.
I am glad you have saved up enough to do Halve boxes. Now the real fun starts.

What is an NIFC? I didnt see it in the begginers sticky list of definitions...

Thanks
Andy

Nice finds - :icon_thumright: - Open that magicians coin up and see what pops out!

What's CWI?
i'm not sure :icon_scratch: but i think it stands for Coin World Incorporated. they are a coin counting and wrapping service.

Not Intended For Circulation. they were sold in proof sets only from 2002 on. i think there also was one in 1987? correct me if i'm wrong guys

Almost, Not Intended For Circulation is correct. They were sold to collectors directly from the mint. One could buy the coins in mint sets, in rolls, or even bags. They were not released to the Federal Reserve branches. The 1987 issue was released for circulation, it was minted in a very small amount compared to other years, thus making it a key date.

Thanks! I know of these sets, just hadn't hear the anacronym before...

could have swore i read somewhere on here that they were NIFC also :icon_scratch: thanks for the correction

Regarding the 20 centavos <-> half. In Canada the mint makes coins for other countries under contract and sometimes the planchet's get mixed up and you get an error as described (or a complete coin stamped on the wrong planchet). Maybe this doesn't happen in the US. The lightness and seam may discount this possibility.

Yeah. that was my first thought when I saw it. I have to really look hard to see the seam and the edge is smooth, no ribbing like a regular coin, which is what made me think that it would be a fake over a real mint error. Maybe I'll get it checked by an expert. Still a fun find.

You will find these every now and then. They come in all different types.
You just have the back of one.

I don't mean to repeat what other people have said, but just thought I
Would share my pics of some different types.
