I found this little gem about 7" down in a field where I only find WWI-WWII items it's got a sterlin stamp on the back flint lock design over an 8shaped platform with what looks like black enamel image.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webp

No way thats dug. No sir

That is an AWESOME pin! What it is I have no clue though. I can only say that as far as U.S. Military, I have never seen one like it before. Being shaped like an 8 may be a clue, but it's no match to 8th Infantry, or 8th Army insignia that I have ever seen....

Cool brooch! What country did you find it in?

It could be military related like a sweetheart or Mother's pin. But not military issued.

8th Army? 8th Regiment? 8th Infantry Division? :dontknow:

Seems a flintlock cock hammer, coupled with the number 8 has some meaning to it. Sweetheart pin or club pin is all I think of also. You can kind of date old pins and brooches by the design of the pin fastener, if you at all curious about that? https://www.realorrepro.com/article/Dating-brooch-fasteners

Are you near New Brunswick?

If you can tell us the area where you found this we may be able to give you more info (without disclosing you spot).

PM me if you want to discuss this privately.
