I don't get a chance to post much silver, as the properties I work are historically farm land.

This baby spoon was recovered in an area where, at one time, water tubs were setup for cattle, so the spot was typically muddy during those times and had considerable foot traffic from those cows over the years. It is amazing that it was never crushed.

The wording on the back reads "Sterling PAT 1898". No makers mark. Rather ornate and solid, not plated. Weighs 5.11g, and if you look at the cup, there are lines/scrapes in primarily one direction. I assume these are teeth marks from the feeding process.

That is fantastic! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

This poses a really significant question: Do Georgia babies eat peanut soup?

"Peas, Peas, Peas, Peas eatin goober peas!
Oh Lordy how delicious, a eatin goober peas!"

Sorry all, I had a Suffolk moment! All you Ginians out there know what I mean!

The best I ever had were peanuts salted by soaking them in seawater off Suffolk. Hard to find now but the best!

Congrats and best wishes!

That is a neat silver baby spoon.

Nice! Are you sure its not a salt spoon or mustard spoon?
