This morning I received permission from a church manager to hunt an old Catholic church that was built in the 1930's. While hunting numerous people were coming and going in & out of the church, even some nuns and priests. One of the items I dug up was a silver cup. A few minutes after digging up this cup a nun in full garb walked by, I asked her about the cup I just dug up and she said that it was from a first communion ceremony for a school child many years ago! I confirmed that it is sterling silver when I cleaned it after getting home. Judging by the depth of 5 inches the cup was probably lost in the 1940's. Also dug up a 1917-S mercury dime that had been in a fire, it looked a little melted by some extreme heat. 2 wheaties, a Golden Gate Bridge pin, and a little over $6.00 in clad would top off the day.
