Here is a complete shocker to me...
My son's soccer game ended and he was telling me about the coins he find on the playground, telling me detectors aren't needed there... Haha... He's a good kid. So, as we came up on his school, he wanted me to stop there and try it out. Low and behold, we got a couple bucks in change, but nothing without the detector. So we are ready to leave and I decide I'm just going to swing my way to the truck. A dime here dime there, zincoln penny signal there... And then an 82/83 on my AT Pro. Likely a dime, maybe a late drop silver dime. NOPE, I was wrong, and I am glad I was!! It is my first sterling silver thimble!!
When I was in Kentucky this year, my friend dug up a court or brass thimble on one of our Indian artifact sites, and I said to myself that I'd love to find a thimble myself, but it'd be much cooler if it was silver! Well wouldn't you know it, I got one today! But at his school?? It is a fairly new school... I wonder if there is anything else there.
Marked sterling on the side, maybe size 11? and there is a hallmark inside, I'm thinking maybe a bell? Also a needle hole, so it was definitely used, which is really cool... Hope some if you guys and gals can give me some more information about this awesome find!
Thanks for checking it out! Oh, and post yours if you have similar ones! :-)

That hallmark is Simons Brothers Pa.

Awesome... I'm checking them out, 1840-present. Very interesting, thanks for popping that question out of the park with the answer!

No way... I'm gonna do that for sure. Getting ready to go out for an 80th b-day party... But I will do that and post up what I get in return!! My name is Don too! Thank you thank you

Ok... Email sent!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

I couldn't wait!!

Awesome! Congrats! I have yet to find one!

Wonderful. I think how many years, and how many things created or mended it took to wear a hole in this thimble. A very special find.
