Sterling Tea Set!!! Wow!

I am super excited about this pick. I found it in the silver plate area at a thrift store. The bottom is marked just England but it has 1930 British hallmarks near the top! Even the lid. I just left the store!

Good catch! If I’m unsure whether a piece is plated or not, I scour the item for hallmarks. Fantastic that you thought to look elsewhere other than only the bottom. Congrats on a hugely profitable score!

A good tip for determining sterling from plate in the absence of hallmarks is sterling will tarnish black while plate will tarnish in rainbow hues.

Yes I believe it is so you can take it off when you wash it maybe.

it is English by the maker William Adams Ltd and has the date stamp of 1930
