Hi,
Pretty new here; I recently posted about finding partners near Charlotte...My family has some land in Waxhaw where we've found a bunch of Indian arrowheads and the like. This was given to me by my grandfather, he found it when clearing land one day. I used to think it was a tomahawk head, but now I'm guessing stone hammer or axe?
Can anybody give me any more details on possible identification, age, value (I'd never sell it, just curious), etc... Thanks!
Also, still looking for hunting partners! IMG_20200303_094455.webp

Nice full grooved axe! It is more valuable as a gift from your grandfather than what cash you could get for it.

I would say you have a stone axe head there.

You're absolutely right, I'd never sell it. Just curious.

Nice find. I saw another one like yours on the forum just the other day. :icon_thumright:

Great relic I agree I would hold onto it and display it

What an amazing find, your grandfather obviously had an eye for Native American Artifacts.
I'd wager he also found other ancient relics plowing the fields too.

That's a full grooved axe. Those were the earliest style. Early archaic...maybe 6000-8000 B.C. Gary

Nice find. One way I have displayed some of my finds is in my fish aquarium. Cleaned and placed on the gravel they show off well with the aquarium lighting.
