Picked this sculpture this morning at the TS. It's a Shona stone sculpture signed by Tendai Rukodzi. I found some pieces offered in galleries ranging from $2000-17500. BUT, I find it hard to believe it can be this valuable.

Any thoughts? BTW, paid $20

The upper end of that range was for a piece that weighed 450 lbs. Awesome find for $20, the lowest price I could find for one of his pieces was $920.

Great find, just get as much info on it as you can and do not get to upset when someone pays you and arm and a leg for it. LOL

I'd say you found something really unique. Good eye!

I'll never understand modern Art. I cannot pick out a piece of art from flypaper on the wall.

I went to an African antique and fine arts store. The owner confirmed it as being authentic and gave me a valuation in the thousands. He said it was a very fine piece of Shona sculpture. Now the only but I have is the butt on the statue.
