Was on a hiking trip and found this gem. Pictures do not do it justice. It has been broken from another piece of petrified palm wood, then one side knapped. When held in the right hand, the flat side is down and the cutting side is to the left.

Not sure if this was suppose to be a spear head, or some type of stone age knife / fleshing tool. Due to the size and shape I am going to guess fleshing / skinning tool.

Measures around 4 inches long.

If anyone has input please share. This is my first type of find like this besides the basic arrowhead. I know it looks like a piece of rick, but there is knapping along the side.

Location is Southeast Texas.

That's right in my wheel house. I'm near lufkin and find quite a bit of palm. It is a small struck from a core. Likely that was all it was ever intended to be and was uses as is. I can't see it well enough to tell how much retouch it has but it is likely paleo. Cool find.

I can see the edge work a little in the last pic but the flip side looks nothing like I thought. I can't see what's up in those pics. They are a little blurry on my phone. Cool chunk of palm for sure.

The first set of pictures were taken with my phone. The second set were taken with a point and shoot camera.

Do you want pics from another angle, or with a different camera?
