I got this yesterday at a yard sale for $1.00 . It has a lot of fancy workmanship . Any ideas what it's for ?

The clips tell me it wasn't meant to worn as jewelry. It might be from a fraternal decoration but I can't see any obviously fraternal markings.

I agree with both ideas above (fraternal and sword hanger), but you have the whole set of three, rather than that being all one chain they are strung together, not as they would be used as shown here: old vintage antique Knights of Pythias uniform rank ceremonial belt with sword holder
