Strange find today.

Dug this out of the shallow surf this morning. Was buried over a foot down in the sand. Looks like brass maybe. Weighs about 1-1/4 pounds. I don't know much about the Hindu religion. Should I toss this back in the ocean to avoid bad luck or try and sell it on eBay? Looks like it will fit into a small flat rate box nicely.
