So, I was doing a science experiment with my marbles. Keep in mind, these are all machine made marbles as far as I know. I have a separate container for antique handmade ones. While doing the experiment, which involved standard deviation of weights of marbles, I found this.

I can’t tell if this is an antique marble that somehow snuck into a marble net, or if this is a machine made error.

It could be a machine made error, then again, I have come across discontinued types of marbles in packs of shooters.

I’m losing my marbles trying to figure this out. Little joke there.

Seriously, though. It’s interesting that I found this.

Any idea what caused this? What could this be?

It looks like the remains of the sprue where they poured in the glass. Gary

Not aware of marbles being poured. Check out the Dirty Jobs videos. Mike Roe went to a marble manufacturer, and (believe it or not) it was very informative!

Does it have that dimple on the other side? I'm thinking it could be a bead that didn't get drilled. Having a couple dimples molded in would prevent blow out when drilling.

No, no dimple on the other side.
