Strange Old GOLD Detector, no batteries needed!

A friend of mine wanted to show this and see if anyone has any information. It has a glass tube that appears to be filled with gold and is supposed to detect gold, LOL It also had a tube of silver back in the day that would lead you to...SILVER, even funnier I know. I thought it was neat though and was hoping someone here would have some information, thanks for looking and happy hunting!
