Strange Old Lock

I found this at an old home site. Site dates from the 1860's. It is an old lock with an eyeball on the front of it, It has the letters on the back of it. It is really rusty and in rough shape, but it is a cool relic. Somebody told me it was a Masonic lock...not sure what do you think?
