mercinarie Ive used TerraServer which uses USGS sat photos,Ive never had much luck with any others cause the location is kinda out in Gods country and the satellites don't seem to take hi rez pictures out there, if any at all. Also the trail is partially hidden by grass in the summer and by snow in the winter. If Google earths satellites took the same hi rez pictures in the boondocks that they do in the city I think a lot more treasures would be found.

Well that's interesting. Think it's natural :) If they did intend to carve a bulldog, they sure carved the most busted one I've ever seen..

that picture was taken from the front of the bulldog, but he is supposed to be seen from the side thats why he only has one eye.as you walk around the trail to his front his face starts to go away and his chin becomes a pointer rock pointing up.I was wondering, have you ever seen the trail markers in the supers that Kenworthy shows in his book"Spanish Monuments and trailmarkers to Treasure"?

Why yes, I've photographed quite a few of them, not knowing he had them in his book. The only book of his I have read is "treasure secrets to the lost dutchman mine" in which he discusses his theory about the LDM being on Red Mountain.

Would you like to see them? Not sure which all are in the book, but someone told me some of my pictures are almost exact to what's in his book.

Thanks a lot djui5 I would love to see your pictures, Ive taken a couple of them myself [the ones easy to get to]. My daughter lives in phoenix [Ahwatukee] and I get down there a few times a year, mostly in the winter when the Colorado mountains are not a good place to be.[my outside temp right now is 8 degrees]. I think that the more of these signs you look at the better, but the pictures in his book were kinda poor and not much detail, thats why I went looking for them myself.

;D Let me know next time your down, I'd love to go hiking with you. I'm quite familiar with the range now.

I'll PM you about the pictures

Heres another picture to look at, It kinda looks like an Indian chief with a full head dress to me, but I couldn't find any marks on it that were obviously man made. The face part of the Indian is about fifteen feet tall. Just like always this was found within a couple hundred yards of all the other rocks.

dont indian monuments just tell you that there are indians in the area, and the ones with the headresses mean that the ground is holy or sacred to indians and keep away.

Thanks for the response mercinarie. Kenworthy's book, that Ive mentioned before, says that an Indian with a head dress is looking toward sacred ground, so don't go there. An Indian with no head dress means follow either the eye or the nose depending on which one has a inverted "V" next to it.

Heres another picture to ponder over. I found this accidentally I wasn't following any pointers or anything I was just walking around the area. I read on the internet somewhere to check if this is an old surveyor marker by looking on a topo to see if this rock is near a section line or something, so I checked and its not. It doesn't look natural to me,can anyone offer an opinion on man made or natural, and if man made what could it be?

hmm interesting find, i would scrape all the moss off and look at it closley to see if theres any markings on it.

my guess so far is some kind of trail marker.

hoooooooooo, nice rock. Clean the moss off, taking GREAT CARE not to move it an inch. Also do the 2 rocks at it's side leaning up against it, and the surrounding rocks on the ground.

mercinarie and djui5 thanks for the suggestions, any cleaning will have to wait till spring, this rocks on the north side of the hill and is probably standing in snow right now.As you can tell Ive metal detected all around it without a hit. The only thing Ive ever found around it is this odd rock in the picture below, and its about 40 feet away. I haven't spent much time poking around this rock cause it kinda looks like it could be a death trap, maybe not a Spanish one but its just balanced there with not much holding it up.also this rock is in a place where it can be seen for miles away and kinda looks like it has a face on it if you look at it kinda cross eyed. look at the pictures and tell me what you think.

ok i had a look at the face possibility and if u look above it there looks like an other face there

and for the balanced rocks which might be a death trap, i would look for any carvings on or around the actuall death trap especially hearts and lighting bolts and circles with lines through them. also it looks like a good area for a cave around that death trap.

and also at the base of the tree looks like a cave or something.

and how do u put text between and after pictures.

very good mercinarie, I can see the face your talking about, I hadn't noticed it before, Ill try and get a better picture of it.Next time I'm up on that hill [spring time] Ill check out the cave idea. But I really don't like being anywhere under that rock, its bigger than it looks in the pictures, and if it fell it would fall into a very narrow steep canyon and I would have no place to run but down that canyon with that rock rolling behind me [picture Indiana Jones]. I have type between the first three pictures because that was two separate posts, is that what you were looking at?

well dont u reckon thats where the cave or treasure would be if it was there, below the death trap. If u dont wanna go under it i would try and set the trap off, and get a video camera when u do it, cause it will be cool to watch.

Are there any small fragments of calcite (white limestone) strewn around the perimeter?. Max
