✅ SOLVED Strange Plate found near Rail Road Tracks

This plate was found in Northern Jones County in Mississippi close to the railroad tracks.
The railroad came to this town in the 1880s.
I have no idea what it is.
When I was digging it, I thought it was a heel plate, but it obviously is not.

Its indeed a lock plate but could be for a strong box or other type box. How thick is the metal. BTW My family is from Eastabuchie and Moselle.

Yes, I am familiar with both Moselle and Eastabuchie.
I have hunted in Moselle frequently.
This was found in the north part of Jones County near Sandersville.
