You never know what you will find. We got back out today for a few hours today, after hitting the four silver yesterday we had the fever. I got this at about five inches. Knew it was silver but had no idea what it was til I got it cleaned up. Dated 1874, makes it my oldest coin yet.

Very cool find

Very nice! I dug one of those while stationed in Germany.

"Anything can be anywhere", from the novel Cadillac Jack by Larry McMurtry (recommended reading for all THunters...):treasurechest:

Way to get marked up. Don't drink and drive you might spill your drink

Awesome find.

Nice silver. Where in South Alabama are you?

Baldwin county

I am from Gulf Shores originally. Grew up close to Fort Morgan.

Congrats on the old silver, nice score:thumbsup:

I am new to metal detecting and I am in baldwin county , can you give me any advice on places to hunt around here?

Congrats on the silver!

This coin has much more value as a novelty find than for the silver,
which is about as much as a silver US quarter.

The mint mark 'D' is Munich.

:)
