I have this vase or urn, and I was wondering what it's origin is. I have searched many places for many hours and have found nothing like it. It sat in an old grocery store when my mother was a child, and she saved it before the store was torn down.

I just can't imagine a grocery store displaying an "urn" - so, my vote is a fancy vintage vase. HOWEVER - I just found some similar examples that were classified as planters and garden urns. Seeing that your Mom got this from a Grocery Store - I still vote for "vase" (or at least - that was the stores intention)...

My thoughts... it's an urn. Chimu or Peruvian, pre columbian. Blackware, jaguar. I'm just guessing though.

Thanks for your input Diggummup! I will search around and see if I can find anything similar to what I have. I've been trying to figure this out for years. Lol.
Edit: The thing's kind of creepy, when you look at all of the strange faces with different expressions.

Edit again: This is the only thing I've found with slightly similar faces. Can anyone point me in the right direction? That's supposed to be Mayan, but looks way different nonetheless. Mine look more humanoid than animal.
