Street Fun

This was out twist on the old string on a dollar gag. I have to admit it was way more fun than using a dollar.

Many times in the summer after playing most of the day we would rest on the "stoop". This section of stairs leading to the apartment building was able to hold a boatload of us. Sometimes during the rush hour, or when the street was especially busy with everyday traffic we would play the following game. Take a quarter and tape fishing line to it. When people passed we would toss the coin near their feet. When they went to grab it, we would reel it in.

Not much of a story, but we did get some looks, and had a great laugh God, we were so easily amused back then.

We used to tie thread or thin fishing line 2lb. test from a light pole or no parking sign near the curb to a fence of someones house. That made a barrier across the sidewalk. Then we would wait halfway down the block on a stoop and wait for someone to walk into it, you know it was neck/head high too

We used to tape it to a bill. It made them bite twice.

We also had those nickles that had a nail in them, bought them in a novelty shop for maybe 20 cents at the time. We would go to the beach Boardwalk and nail them down, telling passerby's they dropped their change. We recovered it with a pocketknife before going home
