So I have been back to the street tear out a couple times since my last thread and have found a few odds and ends, which I'll post pics of as well. But...today I found a bucket list coin (at least for my bucket list!!!) After searching some of the sidewalks that were torn up I hit a nickel signal, it was kinda choppy but was definitely in the nickel range. After digging it up I realized I had a 1868 shield nickel in my hand!!! YEEEEESSSSSSS!!! I can't express how excited I was! I had been hoping to find a V nickel or even a war nickel so you can imagine my expression when that shield popped out! So far that street tear out has produced a bunch of wonderful relics and a few awesome coins! I can't wait to get back out there again...they just tore up the street in front of one of the oldest elementary schools in the town!!! 😬 Here are some of the items I have found over the last two hunts including the shield nickel!

Not sure what this is. It is definitely round and sized like a coin but seems to have something attached to the back like a button or knob. Will try to clean up and let everyone know when I figure it out.

Incredible! I wanna find one of those SO BAD

very nice, congrats

Nice find! Shield nickels don't come out of the ground that often. I've only found a few in 35 years detecting. Way to go! You must be so psyched. It's also in really nice shape for a shield nickel. I hit a parking lot tearout last year and came up with a 1782 2 real and 2 large cents, one of which was sticking out of the ground. One of the LCs was in amazing shape for a copper coin almost 200 years old.
