There is a park that is close to my house and I have never dug anything old there before this month. I have been metal detecting since 1997 and never have gotten a single wheat from this park.
The weather has been pretty wet and I have made it a point that I want to dig old coins from this park. So the first hunt I got a 17S dime and the second hunt produced a 53 wheat and a cracker jack toy.
Today I got a 1914 S penny and it was not very deep. I believe that I have found the area that will produce the best finds at the most shallow depths. This penny was only about 4-5 inches deep. Very nice semi-key, it seems that every early S mint I dig is jacked up from the soil or laying on a nail. This one is actually pretty nice looking.
