Met up with HalfDime and had the morning to search some old spots I was told about years ago that had been hunted out. I've turned some older coins from these spots in the past so we figured it'd be worth a shot. The places were a total muddy, overgrown disaster, however I was able to stumble on some sort of a 'pocket explosion' and pulled all these coins from the same spot. There's a '42 Quarter, '64 and '64D dime, and 2 '64 Nickels. One dime was lying on the ground after I brushed away the leaves and the rest were no deeper than 1 1/2 inches.
The spot used to serve as a Boy Scout camp up until the '60s or so I was told. On an earlier visit I found where one of the main dumps were and scrounged probably 20 to 30 intact soda bottles from the 50s-60s. I imagine with the help of some erosion, HalfDime and I both brought home a few more keepers in that genre. Pictured below are 2 Royal Crown bottles, 2 Regent Beverage bottles, and a West Park Beverages bottle.
Aside from the first hole with the silver in it, I didn't turn up too much else. A few clad quarters in another hole close by and an old Catholic Rosary. Finished up the day with some more clad at a local park.
