I have been primaraly a cent and nickel hunter through my coin hunting career with the occational half box here and there. Over the past 2 months I have picked up 5 dime boxes "Brinks" to attempt to start filling my dime book with some silver dates. All 5 boxes have come up empty:BangHead:. I've pulled about 15 2009's :icon_thumright: but other than that I have found nothing significant. How is everyone else doing on dimes, and does anyone have any luck with Brinks "clear wrapper" boxes?

Thanks for the input

Cool. Thanks. I'm always trying to figure out more efficient ways to store my finds besides in just coin wrappers.

another box, another skunk. got another 6 2009's including 1 2009-D

I've never counted. The picture is a few years old so there are more than what you see. I've never sold any dimes. It is always just one for the pile. In some cases, I'm quite lazy and just toss the silver in a drawer, on the desk, etc. I can CRH my room and find silver that I never knew I had. In the photo, the one tube showing the Barber is just Barbers. The other horizontal tubes are Mercs. The vertical tubes are FDRs. I have Savings Booklets with Mercs. Additional rolls of Mercs and FDRs that were rolled in paper in case I ever do want to sell a roll, I already have it rolled.

Incredible!! Are all those CRH finds or are some of them LCS/ebay purchases?

In my area Dimes are terrible and not worth the time. Good Luck though I hope you find a mountain of them.

Well after 8 boxes and about $200 in CWR I finally found a lone silver Rossie. It is by far the ugliest silver dime in my collection but it is a 51-D, which I will take over finding a 64 in decent shape any day. Hopefully I this one silver for every $2000+ in dimes wil not continue because I would really like to build up my collection and start filling my book. Only have about 6-7 holes filled in my rossie book and 14 in my Mercury book. Heres to filling in some of the holes over the next few months

Sorry for not responding, I didn't see your question. They are all finds. Like I mentioned earlier, I've never sold my dime finds and I have accumulated much more since the picture was taken.

Dimes must be good in some areas but not others. I find that Dimes are worth searching. One thing to watch for with the plastic/Brinks rolls is if you get loose rolls or if you get them in a "sealed box". I have never found a silver Dime in loose rolls of plastic Dimes, but I have found my share of silver Dimes from the plastic/Brinks rolls when I pulled them from a box that I opened myself. Tellers have often told me that look for silver Dimes just like we do, and I don't blame them. That said: it sounds like you are searching virgin boxes, so I really don't know what to tell you. :dontknow:

One silver dime for $2200 search is probably not worth the effort/time/gas.
Since you are in a large city, start looking around at other banks/credit unions.
Can you get Loomis or Garda boxes?
How about CWR?

I started banking at a bank that has both loomis and garda but have not broken the tellers in yet. I go in once a week and pick up a box of nickles or cents, just waiting for better relations with the tellers befor I start getting the dime boxes, brobably try to get my first one tomorrow. And yes all my boxes have been unopened boxes.
