I found my fifth NC Sunburst button at my favorite site today. Not far away from it was this little mystery. Sorry for the blurry photo, but as you can see, this object is stamped brass with a light gild. No text is visible. I'm not sure if I have it correctly oriented top to bottom or whether it's reversed. Is it a pineapple? Cotton? Any ideas appreciated. This was found on a skirmish/camp site in close proximity to Enfield bullets and NC buttons. There are almost zero non-period relics in the field. Thanks again for any suggestions.

That's good stuff! Still looking for my first sunburst.Have no idea what the other piece is. I'm sure someone here can shed some light on it.

Beautiful buttons. Congrats!

Turn the mystery button so the leaves are on bottom and it appears to be a cotton bole. Cool find.

I think the cotton bole guess is spot on - It may have been a little sweetheart pin that a soldier took with him.
