Sunday’s Finds xx

Well another glorious day, so off we went to the fields xx we have been in these fields before, but they had pesky electric fence so meant we couldn’t do the edges, but lucky for us, the estate is investing in new fences so the cows are out, and we were in 😆

Not sure on this first item, but it’s silver, almost like a thimble but flat 🤔 then a pendant I think it says Minerva🤔 then a Water Lane button, after a quick google.. Water Lane Brewery, then a Gibbs Dentrifice tin lid (tooth paste in a tin ) square buckle, bullet, watchwinder, loop, buttons, spoon, and very proud of my Roman Nail, found at the side of the Roman Road that runs thru these fields, watch winder to show the size, 2 pre dec coins 1957 and 1909!

Is there any way that first item could be held the palm to mend or make nets? Mostly it looks like a very high end decorative piece. Maybe for a belt or harness or tack?

Congratulations on another good hunt. I can’t tell the size of your first silver item, but the design and shape suggest a pocket watch back. They did come in several sizes. The Gills Dentifrice tin is interesting. Did it hold paste or powder? Before the mid 1950s most tooth cleansers were in powder form I believe. When they started making paste it came in a tube on this side of the pond.
