I had the perfect site at which to use a small coil and mine has been acting funny... so I purchased a used Sunray X-5 recently.

My initial impression of this coil...I LIKE it :headbang:....and at this point...that's all I can say. 8)

[bg=http://forum.treasurenet.com/images/coinsc.jpg]I can't go into details right now but watch for a future field test article in Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine...as this is an ongoing and thorough field test.[/bg]

Just wanted to show the finds from 4 hours of tedious hunting in the rain and 36 degree temps on a day the first week in December....brrrr.. ;D

The highlight of the day was the beautiful sterling silver ring w/ black onyx and cameo setting. It weighed a whopping 10.4 grams.

I also got 2 wheaties...a Roosey...and the flattened penny/token that has the Entire Lord's Prayer engraved in it.

[bg=http://forum.treasurenet.com/images/coinsc.jpg]And yes...that IS duct tape and sandwich bags on my SE. :laughing7: When you get to a site and it starts pouring rain...you have to find the nearest thrift store and improvise.[/bg] ;D :hello2:

That's a super ring Bryce.

I'd a got wet for that one anyday. Did you ever think of getting a weather beater for the se. Man I don't leave home without them on my unit.

Take care Jeremy

Thanks Jer. What's a weather beater?

Bryce,

Silver and onyx are the best combo in my book. I wear one every day.

That ring is Awsome!! Great finds :headbang:

Bryce, if anyone is qualified to do a field test on a coil, you are the one who would land the job. Your knowledge on coin signals in hunted out parks is very impressive. You and Captn_SE, who I hope is doing well now, are two of the very best park hunters that this hobby has ever seen. :notworthy: The proof is in the finds that you repeatedly make, Bryce!

I'll be looking forward to the article! I know it will be a dandy!

Nice hunt Bryce. Way to put that small coil to work. Looks like the weather will be warmer next week, lets hope the ground is not frozen too hard.

Hey! Congrats on that sweeeeet ring! What a beauty!

The X-5 is absolutely deadly on my Quattro! It is hands down my favorite coil in the woods. It's not just small enough to find the goodies in tight spots along trees and brush, but I've pulled silver dimes from 8 to 9", and a Barber Quarter from at least that deep. It is killer on anything 6 -7 inches down.

Good to see that you are getting out some. I really like the new space age look you came up with for the Explorer! Wow, that duct tape and plastic gives the machine a whole new style!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year!

Good Luck,
Mark

Hey Bryce. Remember me?

It's been a long time since I have replied or even posted on any treasure forum. I have had so much pain and fatigue, it has been hard to even get online and type. I had a major flare up of fibromyalgia back in July. I haven't detected since last June. My condition is improving at snail pace. It's going to be a while before I'm able to swing my machine and dig again. Months of physical therapy, slowly building my deconditioned body lie ahead for me. And even when I am able to start up swinging again, I probably won't be able to do it as much as I did over the past few years. I don't want to overdo it and possibly create another flare up of the syndrome.

Anyway, I saw your post and decided you'd be the first person I would reply to on Tnet in 7 months. You have always been a great online friend to me. You have inspired me and shared my passion to get out and find some of the older and deeper coinage in our respective areas. And it always shows in your posts/finds. I really miss detecting. ::)

Very nice cameo ring find buddy!! :headbang: I guess winter has arrived in your area so I won't be seeing any finds from you for a while. Keep in touch. I'll be online more now that I'm able to.

Congrats!
