God made this part of the country real flat so we'd be able to spot the tornado real far off, and have more time to get the lawn chairs and ice chest on top of the trailer house and enjoy the show from a better vantage point.

Here's another one on down the road. Also a pic of the state wildflower, the Indian Blanket. I like to drive at night so we usually make it to the panhandle about daylight or so. Just me and the bull haulers on the road.

RGINN--my daughter was so impressed with the windmill picture! She saved it to our computer and added some effects to it(posturize and picture frame) (hope you don't mind ). We have enjoyed all the pictures you took while in Oklahoma!!

think this the first I have heard of the Indian Blanket. It looks similar to a Daisey.

Good job on the photo play Sandcreek-daughter. Now, edit out the contrail. I always thought that was fun to do to images. I think it would be easy, just replace the contrail squares with color surrounding it. Of course, I don't imagine I need to explain that to a kid, computers are kids' second language.

KarenRay the proper name is Gaillardia, and it's a member of the sunflower family. There's a few different types, and it does well in dry areas. It was called Indian Blanket as the colors reminded folks of the old trade blankets. They're all over Oklahoma, but there's none here where I'm at in Summit County, CO. You can buy seeds for them in garden stores. There's a lot of Indian Paintbrush in Oklahoma, too.
