Has anyone ever seen anything like it? The only part that opens is the small circular part that lifts up on the thin end. There is a pair of tweezer like things that slide out of the back end. I think its a burner of some sort but Im not sure. No markings and made to sit flat. Lead soldered seams. It measures 6.5" x 1.5" wide. Has anyone seen one before?

I once saw a very old chloroform inhalation apparatus for a field surgeon’s kit that look similar.

The tweezers were used to place and remove a cotton ball that held the chloroform into the end bowl. The cap prevented accidental inhalation or drying out of the ball and the one I saw had a small removable mouth and nose cup that fit over silted tweezers area.

Very cool thingamajig.

The construction screams 18th century.

The inhaler is a good guess, but I think the piece predates the use of chloroform.
