I could hear the surf booming from my place this morning so I knew these guys would be out there.

It looks like the ocean is upset. I wonder why they don’t sit inside and avoid some salt water in the eye?
I really like seeing the pics you make. That area looks so foreign compared to my daily scene but for sure God blessed.

Is that the Columbia Bar?

Yea Coasties!

Now that's a boat.

I'm glad we have these guys and the awesome boats they pilot. They save many people every year. Hat's off to the USCG. Gary

I looked to me that if it got much worse they might have had to be rescued.

Well, that's a Coast Guard boat out training so that when others
get in trouble they are prepared to help. americanasmiley.gif

Growing up here, I have heard the stories of the Coast Guard navigating 30 foot swells to rescue our local fisherman. No the fisherman don't plan to be in hostile weather... it happens...

Here's a short video with the CG out of Newport, Or. doing some "surf training".

Jump to the 1 min. mark for the good stuff.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip .....

Great shots of the tough craft. I still prefer terra-firma when it looks like that.

Hey Viking,

Y'all sure do take some nice pictures of our coast. Thanks!
