I just got home and will do a full post later but discovered something that really shocked me. I thought it was junk but rinsed it before I was going to chuck it and was amazed to see a beautiful old design. It measures an 1 3/4" and has crazy detail that you prob can't see on this picture. Every indented outline has tiny little ridges in it and there are tiny little fleur de lis in between the bigger designs. It had a beautiful, dare I say medieval look to it. Reminds me of something you'd see on a shield. I'm in no way saying its super old but it certainly looks old to me. Opinions are welcomed(except IP because he's too honest and I'm very sensitive :-) just kidding buddy I hope to hear from you image.webp

Maybe a very fancy rosette as I think I can see two attachment point remnants top and bottom

Nice find. Does the back have a shank or where it appears there was one? Later Clyde

Clyde it's concave and I cant see where there was a shank. Hard to tell as the back is in pretty bad shape

looks rather interesting... how deep was it? know what its made of? where the spot is breaking off at the bottom, looks like iron around the edges, but the green coating tells me its got copper of some sort in it, but hard to tell with only one picture, and not having the peice in my grubby hands to closely examine ;)

It's weird it looks like pewter but has a coppery looking face. Not sure man. Try to get some good pics and add em

Sort of looks like it had a pewter or lead back, like some CW plates have... so even though it looks very old I think it might date to the mid. 1800s. Like you said a bridal boss/rosette etc..

looks like a rosette..nice find!!

I'm thinking that it could be a medalion off the side of a horse bridal.
